We are excited to share our culture with you! Our wedding will blend Christian solemnity with Sri Lankan Tamil vibrancy. Here is a guide to help you decide what to wear.
⛪ The Church Ceremony
Modest Elegance & Traditional
For Ladies
- Traditional: A Saree is customary. For church, a Silk (Pattu) Saree is the standard.
- Western: A formal dress or skirt suit etc.
For Gentlemen
- Western: A full lounge suit (Navy, Grey, or Charcoal) with a tie.
- Traditional: A traditional Veshti (white garment with gold border) paired with a white shirt or Jibba.
🥂 The Reception
Formal Wear / Black Tie Optional
For Ladies
- Traditional: Time to sparkle! Embellished Georgette Sarees, Lehengas, or Anarkalis.
- Western: Formal evening gown, cocktail dress, or dressy pantsuit.
For Gentlemen
- Western (Standard): Most men switch to a dark formal suit (Black, Midnight Blue) for the evening.
- Traditional: A formal Sherwani is also a stylish choice.
💡 Cultural Tips & Colors
Color Palette: We encourage bright, jewel-toned colors (Emerald, Magenta, Teal)!
Avoid: In South Asian culture, solid White (mourning) and solid Red (reserved for the bride) are traditionally avoided.
Changing Outfits: It is very common for guests to change from traditional wear at the church to Western wear for the reception. Feel free to mix and match!
